Our Vaccine Policy
We follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and comply with New York State school vaccination requirements. We believe vaccines are one of the most important ways to protect your child—and others in the community—from serious illness.
Read our full Vaccine Policy Statement.
If you have questions about vaccines, we’re happy to talk through them with you during a visit. However, families who choose not to vaccinate may not be a good fit for our practice.
Responsible Antibiotic Use
At Latham Pediatrics, we are committed to using antibiotics thoughtfully and only when truly needed. We work closely with families to explain when antibiotics are appropriate, following the latest evidence-based guidelines.
To ensure safe and effective care, we do not routinely prescribe antibiotics over the phone. We will prescribe antibiotics only when a thorough evaluation shows it’s the best option for your child’s health.
Here When You Need Us
We know kids don’t always get sick during business hours. That’s why we offer:
- Weekend visits (here every Saturday, year-round!)
- Availability on most holidays
- Same-day appointments for sick visits
- Prompt call-backs from our experienced triage nurses
- Pediatric-trained provider on call 24/7, every day of the year
- On-site access to lab, imaging, and other pediatric services at Wellness Way
We do our best to offer routine well visits within two weeks and make it easy to get the care your child needs, when they need it.
Easy Access to Care
We make staying connected with your child’s care easy:
- Use our secure Patient Portal to send messages, request appointments, refill medications, and access records
- Mobile check-in makes arriving for appointments faster and easier
- Our triage team returns urgent calls promptly—even after hours
We value timely communication and do our best to respond to all messages and requests efficiently.
Our Philosophy
At Latham Pediatrics, we believe in:
- Evidence-based medical care
- Long-term relationships with families
- Respectful and honest communication
- Preventive care and early intervention
We’re not just here for sick visits—we’re partners in your child’s health from infancy through young adulthood.
LGBTQ+ Inclusive
Latham Pediatrics believes all children and their families matter and should be treated with dignity, respect and inclusivity. We recognize and pride ourselves on the role we have in supporting, advocating and caring for LGBTQ+ children and their families. We are very comfortable and experienced with discussions, referrals and management around sexuality and gender identity, and are happy to work with families to meet their needs.
Your Medical Home
At Latham Pediatrics, we strive to be your child’s comprehensive medical home—a place where all of your family’s healthcare needs are connected and coordinated.
We kindly ask that you contact our office first before seeking specialty care or visiting another provider for urgent care. This allows us to provide care when appropriate or guide you to the right specialist, ensuring your child’s care is seamless and well managed. We also have a pediatric trained provider on call, 24/7, every day of the year.
With over 30 specialties within the Community Care network, you can conveniently stay within our system for most of your child’s healthcare needs. Because all our practices share the same electronic health record system, your child’s important medical information is always accessible to your care team. Our providers know and trust each other, making coordinated care simple and effective for your family.
Timely Care for Every Family
Our practice makes every effort to run on time with appointments, as we believe everyone’s time is equally valuable. As a courtesy, we will remind you of your upcoming appointments using technology like texts and email.
We request that you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time, in order to complete reception and nursing check-in processes and paperwork. We do grant a 15-minute grace period beyond your scheduled appointment time, as we know things happen! However, if you arrive more than 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment start time, you will be asked to reschedule.
Missed Appointments: No shows for appointments leave gaps in our schedule that could be used to see other patients who need care. We reserve the right to charge a fee for appointments that were no showed.
Three no-show visits in a 12-month period will result in dismissal from the practice.
We designate extended time in the schedule for a new patient’s visit. If a new patient no-shows their first visit, they will not be able to reschedule.
Accepted Insurance
Before your visit, please make sure we accept your insurance plan. You can check our full list of accepted insurance providers here.
It’s important to know your insurance coverage, including any copays or limits. Please bring your insurance card to every appointment and be ready to pay any copayments at the time of your visit.
Billing Guidelines
We aim to make billing clear and straightforward. Co-payments are due at the time of your visit, and we expect that both parents will be responsible for any outstanding balances. If you’re separated or divorced, we ask that you manage payment agreements privately, as we cannot mediate financial arrangements between guardians.
You can always contact our billing department with questions—we’re here to help.
